Kayla Lui is a second-year PhD Student at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. She is studying Political Science with a major focus on International Relations and a minor focus on Comparative Public Policy. She is also pursuing a Diploma of Gender and Social Justice concurrent with her PhD.

Her specific interests relate to the Olympics and the political conversations surrounding how Olympic athletes (Olympians) can be seen as political actors on social media.

Kayla is also interested in gender studies and wants to understand the role of gender in political conversations. She continues to pursue gender studies in her spare time. She hopes to incorporate it in her dissertation when analyzing the profile, identity, and understanding of Olympic athletes and their political discourse.
